Math Support: Learning key concepts, skills and patterns to solve more complex problems.

Math or "new math" is a more complex approach with many more steps to complete a math problem. Once a child learns key math concepts and skills, the next step is understanding how those concepts and skills relate and evolve to solve more complex problems.

Tutoring Services Include Key Areas from Common Core Standards

Skills and Concepts

Counting and Cardinality: Identify number names, counting, and comparing numbers.

Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Inclues understanding how to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division problems with number equations (ex: 30+42=) and/or word problems.

Number and Operations in Base Ten: Includes understanding place value for ex: ones, tens, hundreds, thousands place. Also includes understanding sequences for counting from any number forward or backwards.

Measurement and Data: Includes understanding time, money, length, and graphs.

Geometry: This includes understanding creating shapes with other shapes, breaking apart shapes, as well as identifying shape attributes such as faces, sides, corners, and angles.

Number and Operations- Fractions: This includes understanding vocabulary terms such as numerator, denominator, and equivalent. This also includes understanding how to read, represent, compare and explain fractions on number lines and visual fraction models.

Types of Tutoring Services Available

A) One-on-one tutoring session(s): Sessions conducted with Tutor and the Student identified through agreement.
B) Small Group session(s): Sessions conducted with Tutor and the Students identified within agreement. Students in small group must be in same grade level or at similar content skill level and may be no more than one grade level apart.
During small group sessions, some independent and/or self-directed activities, lessons, worksheets etc. may be asked of students.
Each Student must be able to be stay on task/self directed on task for at least five minutes in order to provide support to other Student(s) in small group. Small groups will not exceed 3 students.
C) Virtual/Online One-on-one tutoring session(s):Continuous Virtual Session(s) is a tutoring option for any type of service listed above.
D) Virtual/Online One-on-one tutoring session(s):Stand Alone Virtual Session(s) is also available as an option for one or more sessions for unexpected circumstances (weather, close contact, etc.) Client and/or Tutor must make the other party aware of such a change from in person to virtual no later than 3 hours before session and must be agreed upon by both parties.

The times below are hours available for tutoring. Please note that during these hours, tutor's cell phones will be on silent or off while working with students. Please leave a message and your phone call will be returned as soon as possible. Emailing is also available and a reply will be given back within 24 hours or less. Please note, the last session(s) ending time is by 8:00 pm.
