About

I loved creating a positive learning environment in my classroom, and still bring that approach and passion to my tutoring sessions. I believe that children learn best when they are guided and supported. My tutoring lessons draw upon my experiences as a teacher when creating individualized lessons that provide engagement and understanding by blending what a child knows, with what the child needs to know, and what the child is interested in.

My journey to become a teacher began my junior year in highschool. I took a class that included working with preschool students. I knew on the first day I wanted to become a teacher. I loved being a part of children’s learning and seeing how excited they were when they understood something new! I continued to volunteer my senior year and received my EEC Lead Teacher license in Preschool. I attended Framingham State College receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and graduated Summa Cum Lade. I attended Fitchburg State College and received my Master’s in Education Early Childhood and graduated with a 4.0 QPA. During my time in college, I volunteered to extend my time teaching with my mentor teachers. I also substitute taught in kindergarten to fifth grade for two years. I then accepted a position as an Instructional Aide in grades kindergarten to fifth grade and taught for two years in this role. Afterwards, I taught as a second grade teacher as a long term substitute for a year.

I taught ten years as a special education teacher in the roles of inclusion teacher, learning center teacher, and resource room teacher within grades kindergarten through second grade. During my time as a special education teacher, I also met and had discussions with classroom teachers, specialists, and special education teachers within third, fourth, and fifth grade. These discussions built a deeper understanding of elementary subjects, and how to build solid foundations to support each student’s learning in kindergarten through fifth grade. I continue to take college courses to further my professional understanding of current practices and academic subjects for students in pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. My tutoring experience includes over two years teaching students in pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.

I would be honored to tutor your child and work with you to support your child's feeling of academic success and confidence!

A little more about...

I enjoy listening to music and have attended nearly twenty concerts. I also enjoy baking and each year try to think of new designs to decorate cakes for birthdays and holidays to share with family and friends. My favorite designs so far are Flounder of the Little Mermaid and The Grinch. I often go for walks and bike rides to take in the beauty nature has to share.
